Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has announced a major partnership with Meta to roll out enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) solutions in India and select global markets.
As part of the joint venture (JV), both companies will invest about ₹855 crore (around $100 million). RIL will hold a 70% stake, while Meta will own 30%.
What the JV Will Offer
The new venture will focus on making AI practical and affordable for businesses of all sizes, from startups to large corporations. The offerings include:
A secure, full-stack platform that allows organisations to customise, deploy, and manage generative AI models. These can be used across functions like sales, marketing, IT operations, customer service, and finance.
A set of ready-to-use AI solutions built for both cross-functional and industry-specific needs.
Why This Matters
The partnership combines Meta’s open-source Llama models with Reliance’s strong digital backbone to deliver enterprise-grade AI at lower costs.
Since Llama has already been tested across production environments, the JV will be able to deploy high-performance AI solutions quickly and at scale. Importantly, the lower cost of ownership makes it accessible for Indian enterprises and small businesses (SMBs).
The solutions will also be flexible enough to run on cloud, on-premises, or within the JV’s own infrastructure, giving businesses more control over costs and scalability.
The transaction is currently pending regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed by the end of the fourth quarter of 2025.
Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and MD of RIL, said, “Partnering with Meta brings our vision of providing AI to every Indian and enterprise to life. By combining Meta’s Llama models with our industry expertise, we will democratize enterprise-grade AI for all organisations—from ambitious SMBs to blue-chip corporates. This will enable them to innovate more quickly, operate more efficiently, and compete effectively globally. RIL itself will act as a large-scale testbed for deploying and refining these solutions, ensuring rapid improvement at scale.”
Mark Zuckerberg, Founder and CEO of Meta, said, “We’re excited to deepen our partnership with Reliance to bring the power of open-source AI to Indian developers and enterprises. With this JV, we’re putting our Llama models into real-world use and expanding Meta’s role in the enterprise space as we unlock new possibilities together.”
