HCC Bags ₹2,566 Crore Contracts for Patna Metro Project

Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) has landed two major contracts worth a combined ₹2,566 crore from Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRCL). The deals cover the construction of 10.67 km of underground tunnels and six metro stations as part of Phase I of the Patna Metro Rail Project.

What the contracts include

  • Package PC-05: Involves designing and building twin tunnels using Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), a cut-and-cover tunnel, and an underground ramp at Mithapur. This package also covers three stations — Vikas Bhawan, Vidyut Bhawan, and Patna Station.
  • Package PC-06: Includes another underground ramp at Rukanpura, along with three stations — Rukanpura, Raja Bazar, and Patna Zoo.

Both packages also include finishing works for the stations, along with water supply, sanitation, and drainage systems along the Danapur–Khemnichak Corridor.

Strengthening metro presence

With this win, HCC has further cemented its position as a key player in India’s metro infrastructure space. The company is already working on:

  • Mumbai Metro Line III: 4 km of twin tunnels and four stations
  • Indore Metro Phase I: 5.66 km of twin tunnels by TBM and seven underground stations
  • Chennai Metro: Two project packages are currently underway

A proven track record

HCC has long been a strong contributor to India’s metro network. The company has delivered significant parts of the Delhi Metro, Bangalore Metro, Mumbai Metro Line I, and Kolkata Metro, making it one of the country’s most experienced infrastructure players in this segment.
